Ratnagiri is a coastal district in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, located along the western coast of India. It is bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats (Sahyadri range) to the east, giving the region a unique mix of coastline, hills, and fertile land.
The district lies between 16.30°–18.04° North latitude and 73.02°–73.52° East longitude, covering an area of about 8,208 sq. km. Ratnagiri is bounded by Raigad in the north, Sindhudurg in the south, and Satara, Kolhapur, and Sangli districts to the east.
